Office of Educational Assessment (OEA)Tips for Tracking SurveysHow to Track Students' Completions of On-Line Surveys To determine who has or hasn't completed a survey within a particular discipline, please read this document. The Perseus survey software interfaces with the Blackboard system allowing for tracking of who has and hasn't completed a survey through the course's on-line grade book. You need to be enrolled in a course on Blackboard as a T.A. or Instructor to have access to that course's on-line grade book. The course director can enroll you in this capacity. Once you're logged into Blackboard (click here for access: http://help.uchc.edu), click on the course you need access to. Then click on the Control Panel (found in the very far left column at the very bottom). Then under ASSESSMENT, click on "On-line Grade Book" and then on "Spreadsheet View". Now you’ll be in the on-line grade book for that course’s survey. The name of the surveys will be running horizontally across the top. Look for your particular course survey. The students are listed in alphabetical order in the far left column. To view a list of all students, click on"Download Grades" located in row above gradebook. Click on "Download" again and then "Open" file from this location which will lead you to an excel worksheet of students' names and surveys. In this excel view, "In Progress" means the student successfully completed the survey. The legend noted on the lower left corner of the on-line grade book IS NOT CORRECT for these on-line surveys – please ignore these codes. The CORRECT LEGEND is as follows: 1. Lock mark: student successfully completed the survey. (The lock mark converts to "In Progress" when the gradebook is viewed in an excel worksheet.) 2. Any other codes except for dash: error in completing the survey - Contact Diane Blahun to clear their attempt so they can retake the survey. 3. - (dash mark): student hasn't taken the survey yet. The students with the code listed in 1.) above are the only ones who have successfully completed the survey. For the Inpatient and MAX rotation surveys: You will need to know the names of the students enrolled in each rotation block of your specialty. Then just locate their names in the MAX or Inpatient Experience on-line grade book to see if they have completed the survey. By following instructions noted here above the legend, you'll be able to view or print a list of just that survey's completes. Diane Blahun |
